Smooth and Jazzy w/ DJ Grit and DL Cedar

From 12pm SLT for two hours Cedar led us for dancing with DJ Grit.  Grit played a set of smooth and jazzy tunes - perfect for a Tuesday !!  It was a "Come as you Are and Enjoy dance. :)

Jazzy - Tribute to Billie Holliday

DJ Xavia played for us a tribute to Billie Holliday with some wonderful Jazz tossed in!  Last time she did jazz it was so so laid back and groovy.    Many got elegant at Casablanca and enjoyed an evening of show dancing to the awesome sounds with Hostess Simone and DL Hevy

Funkies had a "Sock Hop" Saturday.. Gosh it looked "cool"..... Pony Tails, Bobby Socks, Saddle Shoes, Poodle Skirts, Jeans and Tees. 50s and 60s were a time of fun, Soda Shops, Drive Ins. Hot rods! Greasers and Beauties!  DJ Jaffee took take us back in time to the Rock and Roll Era.  The Big Bopper, Elvis, Beach Boys.. Many came to Rock Out and as always Wiggle and Giggle.  DL Hevy

It was Black Friday - the Infamous (US) Christmas Shopping Day!   We did so well getting deals we had to celebrate. DJ Jaffee helped us by keeping the beats coming and had us hopping as we dressed to move fast and got all the deals! Hevy.

 The Funkies were all decked out with some pretty cool costumes, we were looking pretty hip!  Kellie brought along her little love van which was a big hit!  Once our event came to a end at La Dolce Vita..we all climbed in and headed over to Belar InShan with DJ Susie, where our party continued for another two hours.

The Funkies, had a funny, fun easy does it, casual dress, loosen our belts dance. We were planning Turkey Day and sharing diets, recipies for trouble and funny kids table memories. Saturday, November 19th the Funkies headed to the beach on Key West for a little fun in the sun!  Not sure what was in the coconuts but they kept as refreshed while DL Kellie helped everyone kick up some sand.  DJ EX helped us set the mood with some beach boys and other various surfin tunes!

Sunday Night Turkey Trot

Sunday Night at Belar Inshan brought many laughs thanks to our Turkey (Solus) at the end of the line.  Luckily no stuffing or giblets were throw around during the dances.  We gave thanks to many that evening! Ambra and Swam invited the Funkies to a fun Latin party! We were invited to LAS MUCHACHAS where DJ Rose Decatur played an awesome stream of LATIN beats for our Feats!   Many came dressed in Latin looks.  Also it was nice to see some famous older Funkies: Cuka, Lulu, Dre and Trish came! "Giving Thanks" New Pop Style Country Music Dance

It was a "Giving Thanks" New Pop Style Country Music Dance event at Zephyrs from12 - 2!  We all circled up and enjoyed stepping out to the sounds DJ Jaffee played of bands like Lady Antebellum & Rascal Flats. It was Square Dancing with a fresh twist!  Dress was Casual or New Country!  Hevy............

We were capturing fun for two hours with DJ Bobsnkief Ornini at The Crazy Parrot club.  Cedar lead us wonderfully.... It was  a Jungle Fever Party, where many dresses up all hot & tropical as a Tarzan, a Jane, or even a Ape. As allways it was never worry a about dress. Just come and have fun :) .

50s Night At La Dolce Vita

Wow what a night for some great dancing!  We started our evening at a great new venue, La Dolce Vita with a 50s night!  Dj Susie was again trying to "stump" Kellie.  Many turned out for our first night here and everyone had a great time!










After La Dolce Vita DL Kellie stalked Dj Susie to Belar where we continued our 50s theme.  We were having such a great time at our first event, we couldn't stop those funky feats!  DJ Susie, DL Kellie and Hostess Kittsy were so excited to see so many join in the fun!






Just as our 50s event was coming to an end, who walks in but DJ Jaffee!  Can you guess what happened next?  The party continued on with the Best of 70s, 80s & 90s with Hostess Kittsy, DJ Jaffee and DL Kellie.  So many great tunes were played and we had so much fun, many laughs werehad by all.  It was a funky dance marathon that's for sure!  Kellie will now be soaking her feet for the next few days!  Was worth every minute though!  Thank you Funkys for a great night!

Steam Punk Swing at Zephyr's 12 - 2 Saturday

The first balloon crossed the Pacific November the 12th 1981. In honor of that hot air achievement we dressed in Steam Punk Style and Swung with DJ Jaffe and friends to Big Band and Movie Theater Classics. Of course we did some Spot Light dancing too!. Hugs Hevy.

We had a nice Veterans Day Dance Parade!

We all came dressed in honor of our veterans and DJ Jaffee spun some wonderful ROCK but added in all the parade anthems from the many countries military.  We had British and Canadian representation.  On a Historical Note... November 11 is the remembrance day because WWI ended with an Armistice on eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month...therefor the 11th of November 1918, marks the cessation of the most destructive war in human annals.

Flanders Field

Sea handed out Poppies, which are a bright red flower, a symbol of Veterans Day after the bloody WWI battle in Flanders Field, in Belgium.  The soil in the battle fields became scattered with rubble, making the soil rich with lime (the mineral, not the fruit). Poppies thrived in the fertile soil. Many soldiers were buried in Flanders field, creating a contrast of white crosses and vibrant red poppies. Major John McCrae was a Canadian surgeon who was moved by the sight of this, leading him to pen one of the most memorable war poems ever written - In Flanders Fields.

DJ Xavia treated us to a tribute to Stevie Wonder!   We dressed casual emphasizing White and Black!  Hevy danced the troup as the many, many songs Stevie created and all he influenced were played.  Xavia gave us details of his life and all those he influenced.  Stevie Wonder is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, that is blind since shortly after birth. 50's Night At Belar!

Sunday night the Funkies went back in time to the 50's!  Everyone looked amazing!  Rumor has it that Elvis was even there and snuck off with Judges peanut butter n nanner sandwiches!  Luckily we had a waitress in the house will her roller skates on!  Amazing how multi-talented our DJ Susie was! National Donut Day Sweet Fall Dance

The theme was to 1) dress up in fall colors or... 2)even hehe... donut topping outfits with looks like Sprinkles, Icing, or Cream Puffed sleeves. Then to top it off! Pun intended.. Swam was Miss Nutella!  " Come dressed as your favorite DIVA! "

The Funkies joined Crazy Parrots 50's Theme Party and soon there was a Packed (cage) House! DL Cedar lead the dancing and had a Hot Do and Kellie was all decked out helping! Many Funkies got into the theme dress and we had a marvelious time reminising and teasing Cedar about his hair.

We got decked out in 80 garb.. ripped shirts and tight Licra miniskirts, Loose shirts, tight pants Calvin Cline, Ralph Lauren  Miami Vice Look!  Doc Martins! Geeze sounds like ... well basically SL casual and for the first half Minister spun the Funk from some 80s cassets and then NormReynolds Genesis came and Woo Hoo! We had a live singer the second half!  Good thing "We had all the dead ones last week".

Rock Moves at Key West

We had a relaxing couple of hours on Tuesday over at the the party deck at Key West.  Our DJ Grit Schnyder played a perfect mix of soft rock with some pop thrown in.

Yea more candy!  Yes it was another Halloween dance! This time on Halloween! LOL  The always awesome DJ Xavia and DL Hevy teamed up to bring us classic Halloween Music and matching Dance to Casablanca.
