Funk A Delicious! Funky Feats and DJ Calvin at Key West!

Funk A Delicious!   We all got fired up and laided down some Funk..   Nan had us wear something Funky (interpretive) and RED! DJ Calvin Hapmouche played funky dance grooves including some Jamiroquai, Incognito, Santana, Al Jarreau, George Benson, Bill Withers, and NYNan was our dance leader!  Wow She has some Moves! Hevy.

Great Generation of Music at Zephyr's 12 - 2 PM Saturday

We celebrated a Great Generation of music: Big Band: Miller, Goodman, Dorsey, Shaw. and Crosby!  Dress theme...though not required was any 40s style.. Zoot Suits to Military, USO Dancer, Rosie the Riveter to Navy Waves.  Oh!  and we have a great time Spot Light Dancing!

: It was a Belar blast!

Props! we wore Yellow inner tubes with ducks on them  and DJ Jaffee streamed his incomparable list of beach tunes to melt our cares away.  Belar Inshan Social Club made us a peachy beachy venue with loads of sand to dig our toes into .  Jeni moved our Funky-luscious bodies till we fell into the sand!  Bikinis!  Oh my!   Hugs, Hevy

Thursday Thrills at Key West!

It was mambo, samba, and cha cha time!

Hits through the Ages Halftime Show!

The Funkies were ON STAGE! The theme was  "Hits through the Ages" and DJ Xavia played some Kick Butt Entertaining Halftime Music, we did the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s abd 90s while we took the halftime stage. The White Outfits and lights looked great.  WE HAD FUN! Hevy and Xavia

We had a Blast(off) Lights, Sound and Action!

NYNan had us Flying!          The Funkies got Spaced Out at Key West Moons!  DJ Calvin Hapmouche and Light Artist Alyx Heron gave us a "Lights & Tunes Space Special"! The theme was "War of the Worlds" and DJ Calvin will spun an eclectic mix of mystic funky star trek themes, spacey 60's tracks, and Space Odyssey sounds. The light show knocked our antennae off!  Many of our favorite alien or space characters showed up!   

Spaced Out Saturday! 12 - 5 PM at Key West

Leader Jeni gave a ZERO G DANCE! We were floating all over! Key West decorated a moon scape to blast us off out of this world and into space at a special venue where we can did some gravity free dancing. Dj Moonie kicked us off at 12pm SLtime, followed by DJ Rabbit from 2-4pm.Saturday.

Aliens, the outer planets, the final frontier.  At 4pm Live Artist Christopher Walmer took to the stage for his performance of galacticlly good electronica.  You should of seen the costumes.  

Biker Bar Rumble at Belar 6 - 8 PM

Dj Jaffe  pumped up to volume and got us "Moving Down the Highway" with AWESOME Rocking Road Rhythms and Biker Beats. Many in leathers, boots and bandannas. Southern Rock Dance at WEKIR August 17th, 4:00-6:00pm.

Funky Feats got out their country duds, southern style, and got ready to rock.  The awesome DJ Xavia spun  her set of Southern Rock: Lynyrd Skynrd, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band, Outlaws and more!  All at one of our favorite places to dance, WEKIR, with some new decorations.  Hugs,

Swinging Sixties! W/DJ BBall Sunday at Run Around Sues!

We met two New Members!
Scorpio and Étaín Kearney (micrathene) joined today!
Peace, Love and Flower Power......We came to Tune In and Drop Out at a Sixties dance at Runaround Sue's today with the awesome DJ BBall Braveheart and NYNan leading! Many wearing something 60's as we gathered and sharing sl together. Free Peace signs and flowers were given out!

The Funkies have a New Home! Key West!

Liz Harley, Tia Heinkel, and Eaton Waechter are the owner and managers of Key West and thay have welcomed us into their "Wave" family.  Soon we will have a little area to hang out at as we gather to keep connected.  We will enjoy, join and help create events as we get to know them better.   At past HOMES we would call IM based impromptu dances, and at times decorate and have our Funky holiday parties. We will be working out the details of what it means but generally it will be a Fun gathering spot for Funkies.   Hevy, Jeni, Nan and Cuka

We all got Charmed by DJ Jaffee!

We had a singles get elegant or charming dress up dance a Zephers!  With hair all done up and polished boots many came in their best romantic look! We were Charmed or Charming as DJ Jaffe moved us with emotional songs from all times!  The sounds were great, showy romantic brassy and bold with beats and swing. .Hevy......

Be Charmed or Charming Dance @ Belar was at 6 - 8 PM Friday.

Many Fun-kies came dressed as their favorite Prince or Fantasy Princess.  One took a Leap, Ribbit!, Kissing a frog to see if Mr Charming arrived!  A Funky smooch fest.  DJ Jaffe moved our crowns and flippers with romantic Songs from all times!  Hevy

Woodstock at Rosies. TGIF Dance 2:30-4:30

Jeni has us moving and grovin and DJ Monette had a stunning mix of the live stage sounds as we relived "Woodstock".. the biggest rock show ever with the best of the best music of the day, performing in front of thousands. DJ Monette helped us relive those great days of free love, peace signs, and a generation of free thinkers.  It's all happened at Rosie's, August 12th, 2:30-4:30pm.

Saturday Night Fever came to WEKIR!

Many came be the King and Queen of the Dance floor!  We had practiced and practiced!  No more Mirrors!  Our Hair was just right! Boots perfect!  Big collars! Pant Cuffs Flair!  DJ Xavia Nailed it...... gosh so many great tunes gad us moving and grooving.   Thanks to all that came! Hevy

Thursday Thrills with DJ Eaton was devoted to LOVE

Love it ... or hate it...Wait, no just love it! This Thursday Thrills with DJ Eaton was devoted to LOVE songs but not necessarily those  'shnucky bunny huggy pie' sort. He had artists ranging from Ke' Mo to Dixie Cups, from Lou Reed to Bryan Ferry, Bare Naked Ladies and the Doobie Brothers all loved it!!

Things got a little windy at Zephyrs.12- 2 PM Saturday

Thing related Zephyrus the Greek god of the west wind are all about motion, the kind that puts wind in your hair.  Saturday we celibated the love of that motion as any character having to do open with motion: bikers, winged dancers, angels, ultra light pilots, flying fairy, anything where wind is on your hair!    DJ Jaffee played music to move us!  Swing, Big Band, Show tunes, anything that brought to mind that feeling of wind in your face.   The Spotlight Dancing was a hit!

We had a fun Funky Monsters and Victims Dance 6-8 PM Friday

From 6pm to8pm  DJ Gaffee Jaffer will rocked the Funky Monsters and Victims,

Who got to first base? at WEKIR!

We had a diamond and DJ Minister made us all feel like moving and grooving as we heard his funk.   We got all sporty and dressed as a fan or team member or wore a favorite baseball cap. We got our HOT DANCES HERE and sang "Take me out to the ball game, buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks, I don't care if we ever go back, root root root for the home team."  Hevy sent the moves and bats. 

Thursdays Thrills was all about names.......

All About Names.   DJ Grit set up a playlist with songs that contain names. Jennifer, Melissa, Sophie, Romeo and Juliet, Daniel and Benjamin were only a few names on her list. She then matched music to the names of the  dancers!   All flipped over the fun!

Golden Oldies dance was held at Runaround Sue's Sunday.

A Golden Oldies dance was held at Runaround Sue's Sunday with the awesome DJ BBall Braveheart and NYNan leading!   We all wore something gold and had fun gathering and sharing sl together.  Our fabulous funkies came to support our dear NYNan as she got her dancing legs underneath her.  We all enjoy her fun chat and moves. She said she enjoyed it and will do another next week.  Apparently it was like riding a bike.    Hevy
